Cree Carrico

Cree Carrico, soprano

Soprano Cree Carrico is “a notably versatile performer” and “sensational actress” who is continuously praised by critics for her “crystal clarity at the center of every note” making it “hard to watch anyone else when she’s on stage.” She recently appeared as Portia Mansfield in Opera Steamboat’s World Premiere production of Welcome to the Madness by Leanna Kirchoff. As a lead interpreter of 20th and 21st century works, Carrico collaborates closely with a number of composers and librettists and performs in many premières of contemporary pieces, including the New York première of Jake Heggie’s monodrama At the Statue of Venus. Since then, Carrico has sang Lisa in Little and Vavrek’s Dog Days at the Opera America New Works Forum and has also performed on Royce Vavrek and Lauren Worsham’s 21st century downtown salon, The Coterie. Additionally, during BAM’s Next Wave Festival, Cree appeared on both nights of Beth Morrison’s 21c Liederabend, op. 3, singing Julian Wachner’s Come My Dark Eyed One, and sang the world première of Marie Incontrera and Royce Vavrek’s Albert, Bound or Unbound. More recently she has created the roles of Zegner Daughter, Littler in the world première of Missy Mazzoli and Royce Vavrek’s Proving Up with Opera Omaha and subsequently at The Miller Theater in New York, and made her Fort Worth Opera début as Rosemary Kennedy in the world première of David T. Little and Royce Vavrek’s JFK, with subsequent performances with Montreal Opera.

Aaron McAllister, Pianist

Aaron McAllister is a highly sought-after vocal coach/performance clinician among professional actors in musical theatre, many of whom are enjoying successful professional careers on Broadway, National tours, and at regional theaters across the country. As a guest artist, master teacher, and professor of theatre, he has taught Acting A Song, Musical Theatre Repertoire, Scene Study, and Musical Theatre History, among other courses, and has directed, composed, arranged, and orchestrated numerous musicals, cabarets, and solo showcase performances.

Aaron is also an award-winning musical director and conductor who has had the privilege of conducting/directing more than 100 musicals with some of the finest actors at some of the finest theatres around the country, including The Walnut Street Theatre, Maine State Music Theatre, Maltz Jupiter Theatre, Ogunquit Playhouse and The Fulton Theatre, where he served as resident musical director and conductor from 2012-2016.

Together with collaborator and award-winning playwright Daryl Lisa Fazio, he has composed the score to three original musicals (lift, POPart: the Musical, and Blackout), which have been developed around the country, including off-Broadway, and has contributed songs, arrangements, and orchestrations to several other original theatrical works. His newest musical, Ben Franklin’s In My Bathroom!, written with co-librettist and lyricist Owen Pelesh, is a Theatre for Young Audiences musical adaptation of the award-winning book by Candace Fleming.

As a countertenor and early music specialist, he has appeared on the concert stage with the National Symphony Orchestra, Maryland Collegium Musicum, The Woodley Ensemble, Schola Cantorum and the Smithsonian Chamber Music Society, to name a few.

Aaron designed and launched the musical theater program at Coastal Carolina University in 2006, served as the Artistic Director of Theater Arts and an Associate Professor of Theater at Arcadia University in Greater Philadelphia from 2016-2022, and now serves as the Director of Fine & Performing Arts at St. Agnes Academy in Houston, TX. He is a graduate of SUNY Geneseo (B.A. in music) and the University of Maryland (M.M. in conducting) and is completing his Ed.D in Educational Leadership at the University of Missouri. Favorite show: being married to the extraordinarily talented actress, Cary Michelle Miller and daddy to his daughter, Maddie.
