Samantha Pearson
Board member Samantha Pearson remembers a lot of music around the house growing up.
“My father is a professional singer,” says Sam. “He is a crooner, kind of like Frank Sinatra. And my brother is a professor of Music at Humber College in Toronto!”
Samantha proves the old adage that music and math often co-exist in the same brain.
“I inherited my love of music from my dad and even sing a bit myself,” says Sam. “But it was clear early on that the world of numbers would be my future.”
Raised in Canada, Sam attended school at British Columbia University where she graduated with a B.A. in Business & Accounting, after which she worked as an accountant in Canada, augmenting her experience with foreign accounting and foreign income tax issues.
Samantha moved to the United States in her late 20s to pursue a career as a CPA. In 2005, she moved permanently to Steamboat Springs with her family. Samantha joined accounting firm THPK in 2009 where her work primarily focuses on the planning and preparation of individual and small business tax returns including corporations and partnerships.
The mother of two sons and a daughter, she has always been an active community member in Steamboat Springs. For five years[JM1] , Sam was a member of the Strawberry Park Elementary Parent Teacher Information Committee (PTIC). She also served as Vice President and Treasurer of the Steamboat Spring Youth Hockey League and is an active supporter of the Steamboat Soccer Club.
She is currently a member of the Rotary Club of Steamboat Springs in addition to serving as an Opera Steamboat Board member.
Along with her husband and children, Samantha enjoys all that a Steamboat lifestyle has to offer: mountain biking, skiing, snowboarding, and hockey. She is an avid runner and spent two decades as a certified aerobics instructor.
