Julie Maykowski

Julie Maykowski has worked in the opera industry as a singer, stage manager, and stage director before moving into administration. She has worked as the Education Manager for Kentucky Opera where she also led the Young Artist Program and directed all education and outreach programming, Director of Development for Sarasota Opera and Arizona Opera, and Director of Artistic Administration and Head of the Young Artist Program for Florida Grand Opera where she also assisted with fundraising. Her stage direction of The Consul (Menotti) at FGO was hailed by The Classical Review “Maykowski’s staging delivered the theatrical power and tension, with Magda’s final hallucination a dark dance macabre”. She was also the Director of Development for Beth Morrison Projects, an organization dedicated to the creation of new works.  Julie has been highly successful as a fundraiser and believes in finding creative ways to connect people to performance. She accidentally completed a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in voice from the University of Kansas, Master of Music degree in voice from Wichita State University, and a Bachelor of Music degree from Drake University. She is passionate about great storytelling, beautiful singing, innovative fundraising, fly fishing, skiing, cool tattoos, and her two dogs Abe and Gus.
